Become Trans Man

What It Takes to Become Trans Man

Pre-Gender Reassignment

There are many ways in which you can become a man before your Female to Male gender reassignment surgery. One way to do this is by getting a barber to cut off your long locks. A male haircut reduces your femininity and makes you more likely to pass as a guy. Another way to look like a man is by wearing male clothes. Please note that wearing oversized clothing doesn’t make your outfit manly. You should also consider binding your breasts or ‘packing’. You may also undergo hormone replacement therapy in order to grow facial hair.

Post Gender Reassignment

Just because you are now a transgender man, it doesn’t mean that you will pass for a “real man,” in society. You will first have to ‘come out’ and let people know that you are a trans man and that from now on you’d like to be referred to as “he” or “him”. Secondly, in order to pass for a “real man” there are certain mannerisms common to most men that you will have to adopt such as using a deeper voice, standing upright, non-gesticulated speech, etc. Consider building muscle, letting your eyebrows grow out and even hanging out with other guys to adapt their mannerisms.

Become a transgender man is not easy. But having the right tools and support makes it a whole lot easier.
